The genius who gave birth to many melodious songs in the Ilayaraja collaboration
The voice of this talent extends from Bollywood to Tollywood. He created a record by singing more than 40,000 songs in four languages. He excelled as a singer and actor. That tonal universe is called SPB. A picture from SPB’s childhood, SB Balasubramaniam, who sadly passed away in September 2020, is now garnering attention.
Born in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, SPB pursued music along with his engineering studies. After a long wait, the first song was sung in the film ‘Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna’. Later it was the time of SPB. SPB shined as a singer, actor, dubbing artist and stage shows.
SPB, who gave birth to many melodious songs in the Ilayaraja collaboration, won several state awards and Filmfare awards. SPB was presented with the overall contribution award at the 47th International Film Festival. The last song sung was ‘Bharat Bhoomi’, which was sung in tribute to the Covid fighters.
