For many years I have been a member of a service club whose mission, among other things, is to get unsupervised young people off the streets and support them with sensible work and homework. We see this as prevention to show young people ways to find a place in society as adults.
There is currently a political discussion regarding legalizing unregistered gambling dens, when everyone should know that such businesses only serve one purpose: to make the operators rich and the players poor. Every machine is programmed in such a way that the player loses in the long term. These people find themselves in increasing financial problems and some end up in crime.
The state government argues that it does not have the issue under control. If that is to be a justification, then we would also have to legalize the many criminals who are often only caught following ten or more crimes.
Legalization would mean that even more gambling dens would be created, thereby causing even more damage to society as a whole in the long term.
