A case that turns into a nightmare for a 99-year-old mother. The media La1ère Guadeloupe announces that on June 29, the court of Pointe-à-Pitre, in Guadeloupe, ruled legal the eviction of a 99-year-old woman from her own home by her son.
In fact, in the eyes of the law, the son of this lady is recognized as being within her rights since the property in which her mother lived belongs to her. It is however at the moral level that the affair causes a scandal as described by the Guadeloupean media.
We are in 1980 and following devoting her life to working as a caregiver in metropolitan France, Lucia Foix decides to retire in Guadeloupe, where she is from. This mother has four sons, one of whom is called Claude and he is considered the one closest to her.
Once back on the island, Lucia Foix rents land on which she builds a house which was built 3 years later and allows her to finally enjoy peaceful days. At the time, she received regular visits from her four sons of whom she did not ask anything since she did everything possible to ensure the maintenance of her house herself.
The beginning of the problems
Still tenant of her land, Lucia intends to sign a promise of sale for the definitive obtaining of the land. Except that the case drags on…until the day she discovers that her son Claude has legally bought the land and the house without telling her!
And it’s not a surprise gift from Claude for his mother, quite the contrary! The latter tried by all means to evict his mother from her accommodation. He first tried to place his mother under guardianship but it was refused.
An immoral affair until the end
Claude then tries another scheme to exclude his mother from the house she has built and simply decides to go to court. In addition to the eviction, Claude also asks that his mother pay him the rental of the property since the house is in his name!
On June 29, 2023, the court decided to give him reason by expelling the almost centenarian, but Claude Foix’s claims for damages were rejected. It is the end of a legal standoff that will have lasted nearly 30 years and which now sees Lucia Foix, very weakened by age, being expelled from the house where she was living peaceful days well deserved following 40 years of career as a nursing assistant.
The possible motivations of Claude Foix are not really known for the moment but according to various Guadeloupean media, the latter would have quite simply wanted to precede his three other brothers for the inheritance of his mother.
