Rmeeting this Monday, December 11, 2024, the members of the Paris 2024 Board of Directors not only adopted the multiannual budget revised to 4.397 billion euros. They also validated the extension of the emblematic programs initiated or supported by the Games Organizing Committee (COJO) with the institutional actors associated with the preparations for the global event.

In fact, the Board of Directors adopted the general legacy framework of the Paris 2024 Legacy and Commitment programs with, in addition, the desire to give a second life to Games equipment such as temporary infrastructure or furniture. .

Thus, following the Games, the animation of the community of Club Paris 2024 – which has no less than 4.6 million members – will be entrusted to the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) in conjunction with the French Paralympic and Sports Committee (CPSF) and the sports federations.

With the assistance of the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, the CNOSF will also be present to ensure the continuation of the education programs that are Generation 2024 and the Olympic and Paralympic Week. These two programs offer considerable potential here if we look at the number of certified establishments for one (8,700) and the number of students mobilized for the other (1 million in 2023).

The National Sports Agency (ANS) will not be left out, since the body will be entrusted with running the program “1, 2, 3 Swim!” which allowed 20,000 people to learn to swim last summer. The structure, which will at the same time have the mission of continuing the call for projects Impact 2024might also ensure the continuity of the program “Land of Games” whose growth in recent years has resulted in the commitment of some 4,500 Communities to date.

Other programs, accelerated as part of preparations for the Games, will also benefit from the legacy strategy adopted by Paris 2024, with the prospect now open towards the 2030 Winter Games. for which the French Alps have recently entered the phase of targeted dialogue with the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

This includes in particular the network of para-welcoming clubs – which has become Inclusive Club – initiated by the CPSF with the support of the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games. This also concerns the program “Move more”as well as the strategy “30 minutes of daily physical activity” supported by the Ministry of National Education. As for programs carried by third parties, ESS 2024 will be perpetuated thanks to the association Canals, #Entreprises2024 will be confirmed by the MEDEF, while the program Athletes-Entrepreneurs will be supported by AFD.

Finally, it should be noted that Paris 2024 intends to take advantage of the last months of preparations for organizing the Games to secure the material legacy with regard to equipment, in a circular economy logic.

Concretely, the organizers have already carried out inventory work in order to reflect on the future of equipment such as temporary infrastructure which will be dismantled at the end of the Games, furniture, sports equipment, but also technological equipment.

Depending on the needs, it thus appears possible to consider reusing said equipment for other future events or within Communities interested in the acquisition of demountable installations.
