In the new funny evening of Wolves, this time in Washington (defeat 142-127), the biggest drop of water almost broke the camel’s back. Indeed, back in defense, Karl-Anthony Towns injured himself and had to leave the floor with the help of his teammates…
It’s the kind of image we hate to see. A wound, and a wound without any contact.
Opposed to the Wizards this Monday evening, KAT and his friends spent a shitty evening under the assaults of Kristaps Porzingis (41 points), but it was not this performance that imposed the gaze of the basketball world on the capital. No, what was scary was this injury to Towns in the middle of the third quarter, while Wolves were trying to start a comeback. Back in defense, the pivot poses his support but he immediately feels that something is wrong.
The images below inevitably bring back bad memories of the Achilles tendon type…

Immediately, Towns collapses to the ground and grabs the back of his leg as the Wizards score across the court.
Rudy Gobert rushes to see his teammate and asks him if it’s serious, and seeing KAT’s face we understand that it’s not a small physical glitch. Observers immediately think that it is a result of the injury experienced the day before once morest the Warriors, but the areas here are totally different. Sunday evening, the knee of Andrew Wiggins hit that of Karl-Anthony Towns, which was certainly scary but only required a few minutes of rest. The ? We are on a non-contact injury, so the concern is inevitably rising.
Towns tries to get up but he has to leave the field without putting his foot on the ground, with the help of his teammates.
Dirty atmosphere, for the player as for this Minnesota team which is struggling to convince. Awaiting the first results, it is optimism that will be sent in high doses with the report by Adrian Wojnarowski fromESPN : calf injury, no knee or Achilles tendon, big sigh of relief following considering the worst in front of these images.
Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, but there’s some early optimism that he may have avoided a substantial injury to his lower right leg, sources tell ESPN.

But then what is next?
Well KAT will take further exams on Tuesday, and Wolves will advise how long the beast will be out of action. For the past few seasons, Towns has come back from his physical problems fairly quickly, showing courage and determination. However, Minnesota will not be able to take any risks, and this potential absence may be an opportunity for Chris Finch and his men to try new things in the game. Because in the midst of this medical mess, we are talking regarding Wolves far to be convincing at the start of the season (10 wins, 11 losses).
While waiting to learn more regarding the severity of this injury, Wolves fans can take a sigh. Nothing serious a priori for KAT, but a few games of absence potentially. If it can shake the troops, we will not say no.
