The airport employee is withdrawing the lawsuit he had filed once morest the Member of Parliament of the New Democracy and former Minister, Lefteris Avgenakis, for the heated episode in “El. Venizelos”.

According to information from patris,gr and creta24.gr, the airport employee does not wish to prosecute Mr. Avgenakis.

As the airport employee’s lawyer, Mrs. Eleni Samaritaki, said, her principal withdrew the lawsuit last Friday. Ms. Samaritaki reported to patris.gr that a statement of revocation was submitted to the airport police department, which also conducted the relevant preliminary investigation.

She added that it was her client’s decision to withdraw the lawsuit following the sincere apology expressed by the Heraklion MP from the beginning.

“At the same time, my client states that there were many inaccuracies in the reports. That is, my client was never hit by the deputy, he did not push him. There was a tension that he missed his flight and it is an almost daily phenomenon at the airport” Ms. Samaritaki told us.

His public apology

Mr. Avgenakis, following the publication of the episode and related video, had publicly apologized, claiming, from the beginning, that there was only verbal tension.

The matter had caused a political uproar, while Mr. Avgenakis was deleted from the ND by a decision of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, while the president of the Parliament had also excluded him from the meetings of the Parliament.

Despite his deletion, which he described as respectful, Mr. Avgenakis had declared that he would continue to fight for his party.
