Panaji: A former Goa MLA who defected from the Congress to the Trinamool Congress has left the party. Less than a month following joining the party, Alexandre Reginaldo Lorenko announced that he was leaving Trinamool. In December, Mamata Banerjee, the MLA from Kartorim constituency and PCC working president, left the Congress and returned to the Mamata Banerjee camp following being declared the Congress candidate.
Alexo Mamata Banerjee’s letter to Trinamool did not include any explanations or reasons for leaving. Alexo’s change of heart came at the invitation of Mike Lobo, who came to Congress from the BJP. Lobo tweeted on Sunday evening that he was requesting you to return to Congress to strengthen the Goa Congress and bring the Congress government to power in Goa in 2022.
Trinamool leader in charge of Goa Mahua Moitra has said that he has accepted Alexo’s resignation as a statement and accepts it. Alexei, who returned to Congress, is expected to seek re-election from the Kartorim constituency.
