Left Bank Metalist 1925 – review and report of the match on July 26

Ukraine, Premier League, transition tournament

“Left Bank” – “Metalist 1925” – 1:1 (penalty – 5:4)

Goals: Voitsehovsky, 45+1 – Kravets, 90+4

Kharkiv residents relied on an active start and missed several opportunities before the half-time mark. First, Ari Moura hit the crossbar from an acute angle. Then Owusu failed to beat Mekhaniva from several meters. Subsequently, Boryachuk sent the ball over the top corner from a free kick.

In the 31st minute, the striker shot into the goalkeeper’s hands from inside the penalty area, and Mehaniv parried Ari Moura’s long-range shot. At the end of the first half, the most famous football rule kicked in. “Left Bank” opened the scoring practically from the first moment – Voitsekhovskyi closed the far post after a pass from Kogut.

Despite expectations, Metalist 1925 did not fly ahead from the beginning of the second 45 minutes. Yes, Viktor Skripnik’s charges had a territorial advantage. However, the capital team acted harmoniously in defense and extinguished all attempts of the Kharkiv team to aggravate the situation.

Time passed, and the favorite of the confrontation could not create anything near the Mekhaniv domain. Towards the end of the match, Metalist 1925 almost missed a second goal, but Kolesnik failed to beat Mozil in two attempts. But in the time added by the referee, Skripnik’s team equalized the score – Kravets found himself in the role of center forward and sent the ball into the net from the goal line.

The teams had to move on to a penalty series. There, the teams were accurate until the ninth strike. Kharkiv’s Ari Moura hit the post. But Kyiv’s Sokolov powerfully hit the crossbar and brought “Left Bank” to the final of the mini-tournament. There, the “storks” will meet the winner of the match between Zakarpattia’s “Minai” and “Epicenter” from Kamyanets-Podilskyi.
