Lefebvrians challenge Bergoglio, four new bishops –

While the clash over the Vatican’s excommunication of Monsignor Carlo Maria Viganò, condemned for schism by the former Holy Office for the harsh accusations once morest Pope Francis, is heating up, the fire of the case linked to Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre, who died in ’91 but whose loyalists carry forward the traditionalist religious community in France, is reignited. Viganò himself is inspired by him, citing Lefebvre as a model in his public statements following the excommunication. The Superior of the District of France, Abbé Benoît de Jorna, in the Lettre aux Amis et Bienfaiteurs sent on June 19, announces that “on June 30, 1988, Archbishop Lefebvre carried out a ‘survival operation’ on the Catholic Tradition by consecrating four auxiliary bishops. These bishops, who were quite young at the time, are obviously less so thirty-six years later. Since the situation of the Church has not improved since 1988, it has become necessary to consider the possibility of giving them assistants, who will one day become their substitutes”, are the words reported by The new daily compass.
