Leeds tie Chelsea; Crushed 3-0

Leeds United shocked the strong Chelsea in the English Premier League. Leeds, who put on a brilliant performance at their own ground, Ellant Road, tied the Blue Army by three uncontested goals. Brendan Aaronson, Rodrigo and Jack Harrison scored the goals. Leeds move up to second in the points table following their first win over Chelsea in 20 years.

Known for their fast football, Leeds played a strong pressing game once morest Chelsea right from the start. Chelsea might not stand up during the lightning attacks of the opposing team. Chelsea were humbled by goalkeeper Edouard Mendy’s mistake in clearing the ball in the 33rd minute following receiving a minus pass. Aronson chased Mendy at high speed and grabbed the ball and brought it to the net.

Chelsea suffered a setback when they conceded a free kick outside the box within four minutes. Rodrigo took the lead with a header from Harrison’s free kick. It was Rodrigo’s fourth goal of the season.

Chelsea showed more consistency in the second half, but Leeds were successful in closing the gap and defending. Meanwhile, the third goal came in the 69th minute which broke the hearts of the visitors. When the Chelsea defense made a mistake in blocking the cross, Harrison headed the ball into the net from Rodrigo.

In the 84th minute, defender Kalidou Koulibaly was sent off following receiving a second yellow card, adding to Chelsea’s injury.

In other league matches this week, Arsenal beat Bournemouth 3-0, Tottenham Hotspur beat Wolves 1-0, Fulham beat Brentford 3-2, Southampton beat Leicester 2-1 and Brighton beat West Ham 2-0.
