Actress Lee Young-ae (52) filed a lawsuit once morest Jeong Cheon-soo, CEO of Open Sympathy TV, a YouTube channel, for disparaging her as a ‘f*ck-like woman’ and claiming that she was close to First Lady Kim Kun-hee.
Group 8, Lee Young-ae’s agency, said in an official press release on the 26th, “On September 18th and October 16th, Lee Young-ae was accused by Open Sympathy TV’s Jeong Cheon-soo of disparaging Lee Young-ae as ‘X-cow-like women’ and spreading fake news contrary to the facts. “On this day, we filed a complaint with the Press Arbitration Commission and filed a civil and criminal complaint with the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul and the Seoul Western District Court for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).”
The agency said, “Lee Young-ae would not have sued Jeong Cheon-soo if he had acknowledged the fake news and apologized,” adding, “Lee Young-ae has waited for an apology and cessation of broadcasting for over a month. If her reporting is wrong, I think it is a true journalist’s attitude to honestly admit it and apologize. “Lee Young-ae asked her lawyer to withdraw the complaint if Jeong Cheon-soo admits the fake news and makes a sincere apology even now,” she said.
He continued, “Lee Young-ae expressed regret for having to take legal action, and said that she once once more apologizes if she caused discomfort to people with different opinions by participating in the fundraising for the construction of the President Syngman Rhee Memorial Hall.”
Young-ae Lee donated 50 million won when nationwide fundraising began last month to build a memorial hall for President Syngman Rhee. She has since come under attack from opposition supporters.
In a video titled ‘Women like X cows’ last month, Open Empathy TV claimed that Lee Young-ae, who donated to the construction of the President Syngman Rhee Memorial Hall, had a past relationship with First Lady Kim Kun-hee.
