It was belatedly known that broadcaster Lee Sang-byeok (75) received a suspended indictment for forcibly molesting a woman in her 40s.
According to the legal community on the 23rd, the Seosan branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office suspended the indictment of Lee Sang-byeok, who was sent on the 25th of last month on charges of indecent assault. Lee Sang-byeok was sued in September on charges of touching the body of a woman in her 40s at a restaurant last August.
Prosecutors said, “Although the nature of the crime is not light, Mr. Lee admitted all the charges and is repenting of his mistakes, and considering the fact that he reached an agreement with the victim, we did not prosecute him.”
When the report came out that day, Lee Sang-byeok told News 1, “While having lunch with acquaintances, the person at the restaurant introduced me as an acquaintance.” “The woman was a little drunk from the beginning. She explained, “Let’s do a love shot in a friendly way, and she naturally matched the atmosphere with them.”
“(The woman) later found out that I was an ideal wall and sued. If she was offended, she would have expressed her opinion right away, but she filed the complaint a few days later.”
Lee Sang-byeok said, “The juniors who learned regarding this were concerned that (the incident) would be known, so they collected the money and gave it to me (as a settlement), but I said, ‘If you give money, you will only get more than acknowledgment. It is known,” he explained.
He continued, “As the woman said, it was known as ‘harassment’, but for people like us, it’s fatal.” I’m old and I’m a person who doesn’t do broadcasting these days. If you respond to a case that has been legally closed, the case will be long and there will be a lot of talk. I have no intention of responding,” he said.
