The agency of Lee Jong Suk has responded to speculation regarding his acceptance speech at the “2022 MBC Drama Awards.”
December 30th, Lee Jong Suk he won Daesang (Grand Prix) for his leading role in the hit drama “Big Mouth” at MBC’s annual year-end award ceremony. During her acceptance speech, she expressed her deep gratitude to a specific unidentified person.
“After completing my military service, I had a lot of worries, fears, and problems that plagued me,” the actor said. “But at that time, there was someone who helped me find a good direction as a human being and have positive thoughts. There is something that I really wanted to say to that person by taking advantage of this opportunity. I want to tell that person that I am grateful for always being so admirable, that I have liked her a lot for a long time, and that I respect and admire her a lot.
He continued, “Seeing that person, I very often thought, ‘I should have lived a little more diligently before now,’ or ‘I should have become a better person.’ I spent a lot of time reflecting on my past. I will work harder in the future to become a better person.”
After the award ceremony, many people speculated that Lee Jong Suk had been referring to someone he was currently dating or making a love confession.
On December 31, Lee Jong Suk’s agency High Zium Studio responded to the rumors by saying, “He was addressing someone to whom I was personally grateful.”
As for why he did not name the person in question during his speech, the agency commented, “He simply might not share any specific information out of respect for that person and was only expressing his thanks.”
