Candidate Lee’s visit to former presidents took place in the following order: former President Kim Dae-jung (DJ), former President Kim Young-sam (YS), former President Park Chung-hee, and former President Syngman Rhee’s graveyard.

Candidate Lee even paused for 5-6 seconds as he came out following finishing the incense burn at the grave of former President Park and read the words of the memorial that began with ‘In the memory of President Park Chung-hee’.

His visit to the graves of former Presidents Syngman Rhee and Park Chung-hee is interpreted as a move with the midway mark in mind ahead of the official election campaign.

When asked regarding the reason for visiting the graves of former President Lee and President Park at a meeting with reporters prior to the visit, Lee said, “Good and bad are part of history.” It has to be clear to remember it as a part,” he said.

After visiting the cemetery of the former president, Lee stopped by the ossuary-type Chunghondang to commemorate Private A, who died in 2014 due to continuous beatings and harsh treatment by senior soldiers.

In the guestbook he wrote following visiting the Memorial Hall, he wrote, ‘I will succeed the will of my predecessors and become a strong unified president and a competent economic president.’

Earlier, following Lee was elected as a presidential candidate on October 10 last year, the next day, he visited the Daejeon National Cemetery, not the Seoul National Cemetery.

On January 1 of this year, he visited the Seoul National Cemetery, but he did not pay a separate visit to the graveyard of the former president due to corona and other reasons.
