Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Jae-myung said on the 15th, “Taking care of the crumbling people’s livelihood should be the top priority, and political retaliation and background investigations that cause political strife should be second.”
Rep. Lee said through his social networking service (SNS) on the followingnoon of the same day, “If there is a fire, it is urgent to evolve together rather than fight a couple. We will run together to overcome the crisis beyond the walls of the ruling and opposition parties,” he said.
Citing reports that the Yoon Seok-yeol government is cutting the local currency budget in its entirety, Rep. Lee said, “The effect of local currency has already been proven as a national disaster relief fund. The hope of small business owners who were able to do so is proof of that. Even in difficult times, we all confirmed that there is a way to coexist and overcome.”
He continued, “If you are thinking of using the ‘Lee Jae-myung-pyo’ budget as the subject of a political controversy, please look at the lives of the people in it rather than who did it. Please do not do it and listen to the desperate voices of the scene first.”
Rep. Lee pointed out, “Local currency budget cuts are a de facto tax cut for the wealthy and poor people,” and pointed out, “I have experienced enough during the past conservative governments how much inequality and polarization were exacerbated by tax cuts for the rich and poor people during the economic crisis.”
Then he said, “Remember the ‘power saving hoon’. If we unite, we live; if we disperse, we die. We can overcome the crisis only by preventing the monopoly of minorities and creating a world where we can live together.”
