Regarding Article 80 of the Party Constitution, which caused controversy over the revision of Rep. Lee Jae-myung’s ‘bulletproof use’, candidate Lee Jae-myung expressed his position, “I hope that there will be no more controversy over this.”

Lee, who continued to be the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea in the Jeonbuk regional primary, met with reporters following announcing the results and said, “It is regarding corruption cases such as bribery and illegal political funds, and the general secretary will stop it and refer it to the Ethics Committee, not an automatic suspension. It’s a provision that can be done, so it doesn’t really mean much,” he said.

Earlier, on the 19th, the Democratic Party’s party committee decided to maintain the party constitution of ‘suspending the party upon indictment’, but let the party committee make the relief decision, not the existing ethics judge, but some supporters are still demanding that the provision be deleted.

Candidate Lee also said, “I’ll think regarding it a bit more” regarding Park Yong-jin’s proposal to “jointly declare that we should put down the nomination right and set up the Democratic Party with the core of breaking up with a malicious fandom”.

Candidate Yong-jin Park, who placed 2nd place, met with reporters following the announcement of the results and said, “It is very unfortunate and worrisome that the final turnout in Honam as a whole and in Jeollabuk-do is in the low 30% range,” he said.

Gwangju and Jeonnam remain, and he added, “I expect that the Democratic Party will show a heart for checks and balances within the party.”
