Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung and People’s Strength presidential candidate Yoon Seok-yeol visited the burial place of the victims of the ‘People’s Party rally bus accident’ on the 16th and paid their condolences. The two candidates spoke alone with Ahn Cheol-soo, the presidential candidate of the People’s Party, for regarding 20 minutes each.
Candidate Yoon paid tribute to the late Son Pyong-oh, the late Chairman of the People’s Party of Nonsan, Gyeryong, and Geumsan, at the funeral hall of Dankook University Hospital in Cheonan at around 8:30 pm that day. Previously, on the 15th (15th), Son and the car driver B were found unconscious in the bus for Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate of the People’s Party, who was put into operation in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do. Candidate Yoon, who visited the mortuary following finishing the campaign in Wonju, Gangwon, which was the last schedule of the day, was dressed in a navy blue suit jacket and black pants.
He talked with Ahn privately for regarding 25 minutes. The two candidates met three days following Ahn officially proposed unification on the 13th. Candidate Yoon met with reporters following finishing his condolences and said, “We talked with Ahn regarding the unfortunate and unfortunate incident from a human point of view, and even if I wasn’t strong enough, he gave me comfort.” He added, “As the place is a place today, we did not share other stories.” This means that there was no dialogue related to the unification of the opposition candidates.
Candidate Lee also paid tribute to the funeral at 9:27 pm that day. Initially, candidate Lee was not scheduled to pay tribute as the intensive campaign from Gangnam Station in Seoul to Jamsil ended late on that day, but he went to the funeral home immediately following completing his schedule. It is also known that the People’s Party did not expect Lee’s visit.
Candidate Lee was also said to have been alone with Candidate Ahn for regarding 20 minutes. After completing his condolences, Candidate Lee nodded to reporters’ questions, ‘What kind of conversation did you have with Candidate Ahn Cheol-soo (in the mortuary)?’ ” he replied. He declined to comment on questions such as ‘Have you talked regarding politics?’ and ‘Have you talked regarding unification?’ Prior to this candidate, Lee Nak-yeon, chairman of the Democratic Party’s election committee, also visited the funeral at around 6 pm on the same day.
Candidate Ahn, who stopped all the campaign schedules and stayed at the mortuary that day, left the mortuary around 10 pm and said, “(Two candidates Lee Jae-myung and Yoon Seok-yeol) gave consolation words at the mall. I want to tell you,” he said. “The People’s Party will do its best to rectify the situation,” he added. The People’s Party predecessor, in consultation with the bereaved family, decided to hold the funeral as the head of the People’s Party.
