Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung announced on the 1st that he would receive a free human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine for all males and females between the ages of 12 and 17.
Candidate Lee posted on his Facebook this morning, “HPV is transmitted by both men and women through sexual contact. It’s done,” he said.
Next, Nak-yeon Lee, co-chair of the National Vision and National Integration Committee, promised that the state will take responsibility for HPV vaccination. I fully agree and will proceed promptly.”
HPV is a virus that causes cervical cancer in women and anal cancer and genital warts in both men and women. It is known that the HPV vaccine is highly effective when given early.
Candidate Lee said, “Until last year, only 12-year-old women were vaccinated for free. However, due to the vaccine cost of up to 600,000 won, the vaccination rate is low, so there is a high demand for expanding the target of support.”
He continued, “Fortunately, the government has expanded the vaccination support to all female adolescents aged 12 to 17 years old and female youth from low-income families aged 18 to 26 from this year,” he said. We will support free vaccination.”
“In addition, we will change the name of the current ‘Healthy Women’s First Step Clinic Project’ to ‘HPV Vaccine National Vaccination Project’ so that both men and women can protect their health.”
Candidate Lee promised, “We will strengthen publicity so that as many people as possible get vaccinated at the right time.” He promised, “The government will take responsibility for the HPV vaccination for the healthy growth and life of all young people.”

Analysis: Lee Jae-myung’s Pledge for Free HPV Vaccines and Recent Stabbing Incident
As a prominent blog news writer, I recently came across a news article about Lee Jae-myung, a South Korean politician and Democratic Party presidential candidate. The article highlighted Jae-myung’s pledge to provide free human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines for all males and females between the ages of 12 and 26. However, what caught my attention was not just this policy announcement but also the recent violent incident involving Jae-myung.
According to a recent BBC News report [1], Jae-myung was stabbed on the left side of his neck during a news conference on January 2, 2024. This shocking event raises concerns about the politician’s safety and the potential impact on his campaign.
Now, let’s focus on Jae-myung’s pledge for free HPV vaccines. This policy announcement is significant, considering the positive rate of human papillomavirus (HPV) and its trend in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), as reported in a study published on the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website [2]. The study highlights the importance of HPV vaccination in preventing HNSCC and other related diseases.
Jae-myung’s Wikipedia page health and well-being. However, the recent stabbing incident raises concerns about his safety and the potential implications for his campaign. As a blog news writer, I will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on Jae-myung’s policy initiatives and their potential impact on the South Korean political landscape.
