Ledger introduced the new touchscreen Flex wallet

Hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger has announced the launch of its new Flex cold wallet.

The device features a design that is adapted from the premium E-Ink touchscreen Stax model, which has been available since May.

The New Flex Portfolio Knows This

At the Bitcoin 2024 conference, crypto security company Ledger introduced the latest addition to its product lineup, a hardware device called Flex that utilizes proprietary E-Ink technology.

The Ledger Flex is priced at $249 and is positioned below the premium Stax model, making it one of the more expensive devices in the range. In contrast, the widely popular “nano” series has more basic features and has a launch price ranging from $79 to $149.

Similar to Ledger’s Stax wallet, the new device employs the company’s trademark E-Ink touchscreen display technology, albeit without Stax’s curved screen.

After a decade of setting the standard for digital device security and self-preservation, I’m proud to say we’re raising the bar once again.

Pascal Gauthier, President and CEO of Ledger, stated.

Interestingly, the development of Stax was announced at the end of 2022, but deliveries only began in May of this year. Tony Fadell, co-head of iPod and iPhone, was also involved in the creation of this premium product.

Enhanced Security

One of the most critical aspects is the protection of devices. Therefore, the Flex also includes the company’s EAL 6 certified security element, which ensures the safety of the entire device family.

The company claims to have a unique approach to integrating security features. Thus, it operates its own operating system and employs a team of white hat hackers dedicated to identifying and addressing vulnerabilities in both hardware and software.

Cold wallets are among the safest methods for storing cryptocurrencies. Nevertheless, fraudsters frequently target cold wallet users, including those of Ledger. For this reason, the company continually reminds owners about phishing attempts.

A Proof of You

Alongside the wallet, the latest application, Ledger Security Key, has been introduced, which enables secure two-factor authentication (2FA) and the Passkey function.

With the rise of digital ownership and AI counterfeiting, securing digital assets and proving identity is more important than ever.

reported Experience Director Ian Rogers.

The purpose of Security Key is to safeguard users’ assets and identities in a future characterized by artificial intelligence and deep fakes. The app is available exclusively for Flex and Stax wallets.
