But in the Angevin setting, the task was difficult and it was Angers who dominated the first third. Perhonen had to multiply to stop attempts by Prapavessis (5’40”), Giroux (10’10”), Llorca (11’00”). Harms finally managed to crack the Bordeaux goalkeeper shortly before the quarter-hour mark (1-0, 13’25”). A few minutes later, Perhonen unfortunately had to leave the ice, injured following a contact when he had just superbly deflected a shot from Charbonneau (16’11”).
A molten guardian
In numerical superiority in stride, the Boxers let Cowley, the Angevin goalkeeper, enter into fusion. Simply impassable, the Canadian kept his clean sheet following a parade stunt. The Dukes’ goalkeeper’s state of grace continued in the second period as the Boxers took better advantage of the spaces left by the Angevins.
But the Bordeaux highlight did not prevent Sarlieve from doubling the lead (2-0, 25’51”) on one of the rare Angevin occasions of the period. Cruel in view of domination. At the start of the last third, Jevpalovs finally found the fault (and the skylight) of Cowley (2-1, 40’41”). But the resurgent hope of the Boxers did not last long. Charbonneau immediately punished Bordeaux’s defensive errors by taking over a cross from Prapavessis (3-1, 41’44”).
There followed a long stoppage following a charge in the back of Colotti. The Bordelais finally evolved outnumbered for five minutes. Time for Giroux to add a goal in the bag (4-1, 48’54”). Charbonneau increased the score (4-1, 48’54”) as the game became more electric. Valier replied (4-2, 50’18”) but once more, Fouquerel lost a few moments later, this time once morest Ross (5-2, 53’18”).
The evening is therefore to be forgotten for the Boxers who are down 3-0 in the series and are in bad shape before the fourth game on Tuesday. It might well be their last of the season.
