Csaba Máté, who was appointed to replace the departing Szrdjan Blagojevics, did not sit on the Debrecen bench yet, he watched the events from the stands, so the red and white team was managed by the acting head coach, Tibor Dombi, from the sidelines.

None of them could stay calm for long, as in the 5th minute, after a pass from the left side by Medgyes, Szendrei headed the ball inside the home penalty area, Denis and he shot under the crossbar from close range (0–1).

DVSC could have been in more trouble, as in the 13th minute, a situation arose again in front of Dénes, and in the continuation, the home defenders had trouble with passes coming from the side. The home team’s first chance had to wait until the 29th minute, when Gundel-Takács had to save after Balázs Dzudzsák’s shot, and shortly after Bárány had a chance to shoot, but his shot was blocked after his attempt inside the penalty area. Loki gained momentum and the Zala goalkeeper needed a feat even after Batik’s header and Szécsi’s shot for the visitors to escape without conceding a goal.

At the beginning of the second half, DVSC was even closer to equalizing: in the 50th minute, after Lagator’s 20-meter shot, the ball went off the left post. In the 51st minute, Safronov brought down Bárány on the right side of the penalty area – penalty kick. After some VAR investigation Balázs Dzudzák he was able to take the penalty and hit the ball into the upper left corner (1–1).

Ten minutes later, DVSC was already in the lead: Dzudzák found the ball with a good ball from the left side Ferenczit, who shot under the crossbar with great force from the corner of the five (2–1).

In the 96th minute, Domingues, after a nice trick inside the penalty area, fired a shot from the bottom left corner, thus everything was decided (3–1).

Based on their performance in the second half, the home team deserved the success.
