Lebenshilfe football championship: "It was pure goose bumps this year"

The state football tournament organized by Lebenshilfe is one of the absolute highlights in the Innviertler football calendar. This year it was held at the 75th anniversary of SK Wiehag Altheim. More spectators than ever cheered for the Lebenshilfe footballers, in the end the team from Regau was ahead. Second place went to the group from Perg/Grein, third to that from Ried. The groups from Lebenshilfe Braunau, who were used to winning, had to settle for fifth and sixth place.

The footballing level increases from year to year. This year the national football championship of the Lebenshilfe took place for the 17th time. “It was pure goosebumps this year,” emphasized organizer Christian Hacker. Alexander Huber, chairman of Altheim’s city marketing, was so enthusiastic that he spontaneously agreed to sponsor the 2024 state championship. Because the joy, fairness and ambition with which the amateur soccer players performed inspired every single spectator. The best player was Markus Klausegger from Regau, the best female player was Laura Hagemair from Ried. Sonja Hütter from Braunau/Mattighofen was voted the best goalkeeper, Philipp Luftensteiner from Perg/Grein was top scorer. The fairness prize went to the Diakonie Mauerkirchen.

Three days SK Altheim anniversary

More than 50 former SK Altheim players showed their solidarity with the traditional club by coming to the 75th anniversary celebrations. Mohamed Haddadi traveled from Amsterdam, Laci Bruckner from Budapest, the former ÖFB team player and Bundesliga legionnaire Reinhold Hintermaier came from Nuremberg. OÖFB group chairman Josef Ruschnak and ASVÖ football regional manager Günther Haidinger also celebrated. Guest of honor was Franz Viehböck, Altheim national team striker and LASK legend.
