The Estimates Department of the Meteorological Authority in Lebanon expected in the evening weather bulletin that Lebanon and the eastern basin of the Mediterranean will fall under the influence of hot air masses originating from the Arabian Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, leading to a significant rise in temperatures that exceed their seasonal rates for the month of May on Thursday and Friday, with a decrease in humidity and the appearance of Dust in the atmosphere, and then gradually affected, starting from dawn on Saturday, by an air depression centered over the island of Crete, and it is accompanied by cold and wet air masses, which leads to a return of temperatures to a tangible decrease with some fluctuations and sporadic rain until next Monday evening.
Note: The average temperature for May is between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius.
The expected weather in Lebanon:
Thursday: Very few clouds in general, with a tangible rise in temperatures, exceeding their seasonal averages for the month of May. Humidity also decreases and winds activate as of the followingnoon, especially in the southern regions, touching 60 km/h and carrying with it layers of dust, turning at night to partly cloudy with high clouds.
Friday: Partly cloudy with high clouds, with temperatures remaining high, as they exceed seasonal rates by around 5 degrees, and humidity remaining low during the day, as winds are active, as their speed reaches 65 km/h in the followingnoon, and dust remains in the air, as visibility sometimes worsens. In the evening, it turns cloudy with medium clouds, the humidity increases, and fog forms on the heights during the night. The wind speed increases during the night of Friday / Saturday, reaching a speed of 75 km / h, with which the sea wave rises.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a noticeable decrease in temperatures around 9 degrees, as they become below their seasonal rates, humidity increases, dense fog forms on the heights, and winds are active, especially during the morning period, as its speed reaches up to 60 km / h. Sporadic rain falls, especially from the evening. In the southern and northern regions, it will be muddy and some light snow will fall during the night at an altitude of 2200 meters and above.
Sunday: Partly cloudy to cloudy at times with additional and slight drop in temperatures and heavy fog at times on the heights. Scattered and intermittent rain falls and is expected to intensify at times with the possibility of lightning, thunder and active winds. Snow also falls sporadically at an altitude of 2000 meters and above.
