Since the October 7 attack, Israel has launched an unrelenting bombing campaign against the Hamas-controlled enclave. Clashes with Iran-backed Hezbollah on the border between Israel and Lebanon have also intensified.
NNA reported that the sister of radio correspondent Samir Ayoub and her three grandchildren (ages 10, 12 and 14) were killed.
They were killed while chasing the journalist’s car.
Earlier on Sunday, it was reported that two ambulances were fired upon and four paramedics were injured in an Israeli bombardment in southern Lebanon.
The NNA said the Israeli strike targeted two ambulances belonging to the Risala Scout Association, which organizes rescue efforts and is linked to the Shiite Amal movement, which is an ally of Hezbollah.
The association said that “an Israeli occupation forces drone deliberately targeted (…) two vehicles, causing moderate injuries to four medics.”
She said the attack happened at dawn when two ambulances were called to evacuate the wounded in the village of Teir Harfa, about three kilometers from the border with Israel.
The Israeli military said it had used a drone to target “a group of terrorists who attempted to shell the Rosh Hanikra area in northern Israel from Lebanon.”
The report said troops spotted two suspicious vehicles, but said the strike was aimed at a group of terrorists, not the vehicles.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health condemned this “cowardly and barbaric attack”.
At least 81 people, including 59 Hezbollah fighters, have been killed in cross-border clashes on the Lebanese side since October 7, according to the AFP news agency.
Six soldiers and one civilian were killed on the Israeli side.
On October 13, video journalist Issam Abdallah was killed and six others were wounded in strikes in a village in southern Lebanon. Among them are two AFP journalists.
Lebanese authorities have accused Israel of being behind the strikes.
Hezbollah said two more of its fighters were killed on Sunday morning.
Rising tensions along the border are raising concerns that Israel’s war to destroy Hamas in the Gaza Strip could escalate into a regional war.
Lebanese Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah said on Friday that the United States is fully responsible for the war in the Gaza Strip between Israel and Hamas.
It was Nasrallah’s first public speech since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas.
He warned Israel not to attack Lebanon, adding that an end to the aggression against the Gaza Strip would prevent a regional conflict.
