Lebanon.. Prime Minister cancels trip to New York after tensions with Israel

The caretaker Prime Minister of Lebanon said in a statement: “I had intended to travel to New York as part of the intensification of Lebanese diplomatic activity during the United Nations General Assembly to stop the continued Israeli aggression against Lebanon and the massacres committed by the enemy. However, in light of the developments related to the Israeli aggression against Lebanon, I decided to refrain from traveling.”

Mikati added: “After consultation and coordination with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, I agreed on the titles of the urgent foreign diplomatic movement at this stage.”

He reiterated that the priority at the present time is to stop the massacres committed by what he described as “the Israeli enemy and the various types of wars it is waging.”

He called on the international community and the human conscience to take a clear position on these horrific massacres.

The Lebanese Prime Minister called on the international community participating in the United Nations General Assembly to adopt international laws to neutralize civilian technological means from military and war targets.

On Saturday, the Israeli army launched a series of raids on southern Lebanon and the Western Bekaa region. Israeli media reported that the Israeli Air Force had carried out 100 raids on southern Lebanon.

These intensive air strikes launched by the Israeli Air Force against the positions of the Lebanese factions in southern Lebanon come a day after the raid that targeted party leaders near the capital Beirut.

The Lebanese factions announced yesterday, Saturday, that they had bombed two military barracks in northern Israel with “Katyusha rockets,” and that they had bombed “a salvo of Katyusha rockets” two Israeli military barracks in northern Israel in response to “the attacks on the steadfast southern villages and civilian homes.”
