The ministry said in a statement that “in follow-up to the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, the cumulative report of health emergencies until July 9, 2024, reveals the recording of 1,438 injuries and 466 deaths.”
The escalation between Israel and the Lebanese factions movement has reached deeper distances on both sides of the border, as the Israeli army targeted towns deep in the south and in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon, while the Lebanese factions movement announced the bombing of an ammunition storage base near Tiberias, which the Israeli media said was the deepest bombing so far, reaching 60 kilometers, in addition to the bombing of the Meron air surveillance base in the occupied Syrian Golan.
Since the beginning of the war, the Israeli army has monitored 5,450 rocket launches towards northern Israel, including 50 launches in one day last June.
The Israeli Alma Center for Research and Education also reported that the vast majority of the launches during the first three months of the war were anti-tank missiles towards areas closest to the border.
On Sunday, the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, arrived in Tel Aviv, in preparation for the consultation session scheduled to be held by the Security Council on the implementation of Resolution 1701 before the end of this month.
The United Nations said in a statement, “Its discussions with Israeli officials are expected to focus on the need to restore calm, make way for a diplomatic solution through which displaced civilians on both sides can return to their homes, in addition to addressing the outstanding provisions of Resolution 1701.”
She said, “Since Ms. Hennis-Plasschaert assumed her position last month, she has been in intensive contact with the Lebanese leadership and relevant parties to discuss ways to de-escalate across the Blue Line.”
