Lebanese Taekwondo Delegation Shines in Olympic Qualifiers: Achievements and Celebrations

The Lebanese Taekwondo delegation returned to Beirut after participating in the final qualifiers for the Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris (France) between July 26 and August 11. During the qualifiers, the Lebanese national team and Mont La Salle club player, Letitia Aoun (under 57 kg), succeeded in qualifying for the next summer Olympics in a new achievement for the Lebanese sport of taekwondo. During the same qualifiers, Lebanon won a bronze medal with player Ray Al-Rahi (weight over 80 kg) and a second bronze medal with player Ward Salman (weight over 67 kg).
Among those receiving the delegation in the salon of honor at the airport were the President of the Fencing Federation and the President of the Mont La Salle Club, Jihad Salama, and the Treasurer of the Taekwondo Federation, Omar Al-Masry, representing the Federation’s President, Dr. Habib Zarifa, who is outside Lebanon. The delegation entered the salon of honor to the applause of the recipients. Al-Masry delivered a speech, on behalf of the President of the Federation, Dr. Zarifa, in which he congratulated the delegation on its achievement in the qualifiers, with Letitia Aoun qualifying for the Paris Olympics and winning two bronze medals through Al-Rahi and Salman. He praised the way the federation headed by Dr. Zarifa works in developing the sport of taekwondo, and the distinguished results achieved in foreign forums are only evidence of that, and he hopes that Aoun will win a medal in the next Olympics.
In turn, Salama spoke and praised the Taekwondo Federation, its president, and the way he worked diligently for the benefit of the game, and considered that the Mont La Salle Club is the hotbed of heroes and heroines in Taekwondo and other sports, adding that the champion, Laetitia Aoun, persevered in training and reached her goal, wishing her success in her preparations and in her participation in the Olympics and achieving Her ambitions.
The final word goes to champion Aoun, who considered that she is still living in the atmosphere of qualification and that she will seek to win a medal for Lebanon in the Paris Olympics, which has been long-awaited for about 44 years.
