Lebanese Minister of Public Works confirms Moscow’s openness to cooperation with Beirut

Lebanon – Minister of Public Works and Transport in the Lebanese government, Ali Hamieh, confirmed during his meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Beirut, Alexander Rudakov, that Moscow’s interest was clear through its openness to cooperation with the country.

Minister Ali Hamieh met with the Russian Ambassador to Beirut, Alexander Rudakov, where they discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region.

The discussion also included following up on some of the files that were discussed during Minister Ali Hamieh’s recent visit to Russia and his meeting with Russian Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit.

Minister Ali Hamieh stressed that “Russian interest was clear through the openness to readiness to cooperate with Lebanon, to establish and activate agreements related to the transportation sector between the two countries as well as in the railway transportation sector.”

He also added that “the recent visit to Russia and the meetings held with Russian Minister of Transport Roman Starovoit were an opportunity to discuss ways and prospects for enhancing cooperation between Lebanon and Russia, especially in the transportation sector and the geographical location of Lebanese ports and their importance for transportation corridors at the regional and global levels.”

Russian Ambassador Alexander Rudakov handed Minister Hamieh a letter from his Russian counterpart Roman Starovoit, confirming his country’s readiness to follow up on the discussions on the topics raised during the meeting in Russia.
