Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi: Punishment for the kidnappers of the Saudi citizen will be harsh

Lebanese Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi announced today, Monday, that he has been following up with the Internal Security Forces since yesterday the case of the “kidnapping” of a Saudi citizen in Beirut.
Mawlawi added on his Twitter account, “What happened affects Lebanon’s relationship with its brothers, and the perpetrators will be punished harshly,” stressing that the country’s authorities work “always, with an iron fist, to liberate any citizen who is subjected to any harm on Lebanese soil.”
The Minister of Interior stated that he is in “contact with the smallest details” with the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari.
According to Lebanese media, the Saudi citizen was kidnapped on the airport road following midnight last Saturday.
According to Lebanese sources, the kidnapped Saudi citizen works for Saudi Airlines. The sources added that the kidnappers of the Saudi citizen in Beirut demanded a ransom.
For its part, the Saudi news channel reported that the citizen was kidnapped from the center of the commercial area in the Lebanese capital on Sunday evening.
The channel quoted a source as saying that the kidnappers took the Saudi citizen to the southern suburb of Beirut, where Hezbollah is a stronghold, and sent a phone message from this suburb demanding a ransom of $400,000.
