A few years ago, we have been repeating the phrase: Lebanese cinema is in the process of being born, and we mean that there is an industry whose features are looming on the horizon, and it foretells an honorable image of a local cinema that is respected by its people and the world.
This position has nothing to do with the empty praises that we hear from time to time that Lebanese films are able to reserve a place for them on the pulpits of international festivals, because we express a real, practical field opinion that comes to this conclusion through the irrefutable features on the ground that confirm that our cinematic future heralds every presence. has its value.
The image of the individual initiative among the Lebanese has not changed in all sectors. It is a very special feature that we are proud of, as it saved us in more than one serious incident, and alerted us to the need to take the necessary precautions to survive, so we succeeded in art and culture, and the system failed us in the areas of economy and living.
Today, we confirm that the upcoming phase is full of cinematic hopes, as there are many projects that are reliable on a high level and content that are currently under preparation, while the coming weeks promise us to learn regarding distinctive Lebanese cinematic landmarks, the first of which is with the cinematic version of: “Al-Hiba” produced by Sadiq Al-Sabah, directed by Samer Al-Barqawi, with the dazzling star Tim Hassan, Zeina Makki – in the first absolute women’s championship in a work of this level – and with them the Turkish star Kenan Goban – one of the heroes: Valley of the Wolves – and the first days of September will witness the first public show between Beirut and all the capitals Arabic, with stations from the world.
Another tape regarding which our director, Wissam Sharaf, entitled: “Iron Copper Batteries”, with the Lebanese Ziad Jallad, and the Frenchwoman of Ethiopian origin, Clara Cotton, told us regarding a relationship between a displaced Syrian in Lebanon, with an Ethiopian worker, and because of the bad general conditions in Lebanon, they seek to secure their relocation to a country western.
Also on the production line is director Nadine Labaki, who is currently filming her new tape: “The Return to Alexandria”, in which she also appears as an actress, but as usual, she does not reveal anything regarding the specifications of the film.
And the fourth films: “The River” by Ghassan Salhab, in the third of the trilogy he started with: The Mountain – 2010, then: The Valley – 2014, with Ali Suleiman and Youmna Marwan. The census does not stop here, as the Lebanese production houses are actively and effectively working.
