The Israeli army warned residents of villages in southern Lebanon to avoid living in buildings containing Hezbollah weapons and asked them to immediately leave the area.

“We advise civilians from Lebanese villages located inside and next to buildings and areas used by Hezbollah for military purposes, such as weapons storage areas, to immediately evacuate the dangerous areas for their own safety,” the military said in a statement, as reported by Anadollu, Tuesday (9/24).

Israel’s Army Radio said the military had struck more than 150 targets in Lebanon using dozens of fighter jets early Monday. “The planned attacks are expected to be more significant than Sunday’s (September 22) attacks and will continue for a long period of time,” Israeli daily Haaretz reported, citing a military statement.

Earlier, a man was killed and two members of his family were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on the eastern Lebanese town of Bodai, according to Lebanon’s official news agency. The agency added that four others were wounded in the attack and transferred to a local hospital.

The broadcaster previously reported on Monday (23/9) at 6:30 a.m. local time, Israeli fighter jets carried out more than 80 airstrikes in a 30-minute period, striking areas and valleys between the towns of Ansar and Zrariyeh in the Nabatieh Governorate in southern Lebanon.

At the same time, Israel carried out a series of massive airstrikes targeting the Beqaa region, hitting the areas around Chmistar, Bodai, Nabi Chit, and the outskirts of Baalbek in eastern Lebanon. Some of the airstrikes also targeted the Zboud suburb in northern Beqaa, the Hermel mountain region, and Jabal Safi in western Beqaa, the news agency said.

The report noted that Israeli warplanes also carried out heavy strikes on the eastern region of Tyre, as well as airstrikes on the Litani River on the southern bank of Dlafy in southern Lebanon. Tensions have been rising between Hezbollah and Israel following a deadly airstrike on Friday (20/9) that killed at least 45 people, including children and women, and wounded dozens more in the southern suburbs of Beirut.

Hezbollah confirmed that at least 16 of its members, including senior leader Ibrahim Aqil and top commander Ahmed Wahbi, were killed in an Israeli strike. The strikes came two days after at least 37 people were killed and more than 3,000 others wounded in two waves of explosions of wireless communications devices in Lebanon.

While the Lebanese government and Hezbollah blamed Israel for the blast, Tel Aviv has neither denied nor confirmed its involvement. Hezbollah and Israel have been engaged in a cross-border war since the start of Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 41,400 people, mostly women and children, following a cross-border attack by Hamas on October 7 last year.
