Attract younger people to careers in shortage. This is the objective of the “L’aventure des métiers” trade fair, which is being held this weekend at Porte de Versailles, in Paris. A meeting organized as part of the European Education Fair and which allows numerous sectors to concretely demonstrate and explain what they offer. Europe 1 went to the site.
Before convincing young people to join their sector, you must first attract them to their stand. Mission accomplished for the leather trades that interest Yuni, a high school student. “It was the stand that attracted us because it is very colorful. I really like everything that is leather goods and fabric. I wanted to ask questions to orient ourselves because we are students of second. And so I really want to register,” smiles the teenager.
Immersion
A few aisles further, a stand made 100% from wood made in France attracts attention. It needs it because nearly 100,000 additional jobs will be created in 2024 to ensure the development of the wood industry. To attract candidates, nothing better than a fun immersion.
“There is virtual reality that we developed to insert a player into the forest, to get them started on forest management,” explains Nicolas Jobin, from the forestry cooperatives. “It works quite well. It speaks to them well, they immediately have the touch, they know how to do it. It allows young people to concretize what we tell them and to practice it virtually for the moment, but we hope maybe later in real life, in the forest.” A sector which recruits and trains CAP, up to Forestry Engineer.
