An attractive salary alone is not enough to find and retain employees: Facilitations and incentives (“benefits”) can also make an important contribution if they are designed fairly and affordable for the company. More and more companies are providing their employees with a mobile vehicle: Unlike before, this is often not a company car, but a bicycle. Several providers in Austria offer Dienstrad-Leasing for companies.

One of the providers is the Innviertel company LeaseMyBike, which was founded in 2021. Interested companies can register on the platform: Employees who want to get a bike can choose one from one of the more than 850 dealer partners. Employees can also use the company bike in their free time. The dealer concludes a leasing contract with the employer, the leasing rate is deducted from the employee’s gross wage, which leads to a reduction in the tax burden. “This results in savings of up to 37 percent compared to a private purchase,” says Gerhard Mayrhofer, who runs the company founded and runs the company with his wife Ann-Kathrin. We are already working with more than 2,000 companies across Austria. 15,000 bikes are currently in circulation. 30 employees are employed.

“We support the introduction for all”

Now the portfolio is being expanded: companies can not only lease the bikes, but also buy them without a financing partner and give them to the employees: “For many companies, it is not the leasing that is essential, but the all-round support that we offer,” says Mayrhofer. The model would mean an average of around ten percent additional savings for employees. The operational processing of the insurance sector has also recently been brought in-house in order to guarantee faster processes. In the “E-Action” bike shop, which is part of the group, you can buy not only new bikes but also refurbished leasing returns. Ann-Kathrin Mayrhofer says company bike leasing can only be used if payment is made through a collective agreement: “We support its introduction for everyone, just like in Germany.”
