It is at daybreak that Frédéric and his pupil prepare their hot-air balloon, in Corrèze. In a few minutes, the hot air spit out by the nacelle’s burners inflates the balloon. It’s a childhood dream for Stéphane Cheize who has been learning to fly a hot air balloon for a year and a half. “Since I was little I’ve always wanted to fly. When I did my studies, glasses appeared so I couldn’t make that dream come true”he confides.
The hot air balloon slowly pulls itself out of the ground and flies over the still frozen countryside. Hot-air balloon baptisms are more and more popular in Corrèze. The department also has assets for those who want to go further and acquire the basics of piloting. A hot air balloon can only go up or down. To steer, you have to look for a wind that carries the device in the desired direction.
