The late artist Umm Kulthum, gave many concerts to support the war effort in Egypt, especially during the tripartite aggression against Egypt in 1956, then the setback of June 1967, as well as the Mercy Train, through which she collected many donations.
All of this made the leadership of the revolution and the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser consider it a red line that should not be approached, as it is a national wealth not only in Egypt but in the entire Arab world.
Writer Mahfouz Abdel Rahman said in a previous interview: “During his research, during the writing of the series “Umm Kulthum”, he found a famous incident mentioned by some of her contemporary witnesses, which is that Dr. So, Umm Kulthum was nothing but to seek the help of the leader, Gamal Abdel Nasser, by phone.”
And he continued, “President Abdel Nasser ran to her while he was in his pajamas because of Umm Kulthum’s screaming and crying for him on the phone, and as soon as he arrived and found the condition that Umm Kulthum was in, he asked her husband about the reason for that, so he replied that she is his wife and he has the right to beat her.” The leader Abdel Nasser replied to him, saying: “Yes, she is your wife, but you must know that you are not the relative of Sheikh Ibrahim, the father of Umm Kulthum, until he confronts you and asks you what you did with his daughter?
