The summer transfer market ended Thursday evening, in most European leagues, amid great competition between clubs in order to strengthen their ranks with the best players, to fight a difficult season in various competitions, whether local or European.
Despite the great activity witnessed by the summer Mercato, there are a number of well-known stars who failed to find a new club following the end of their contracts with their clubs.
These players have the opportunity to obtain a new club even following the closing of the summer Mercato doors, as FIFA rules allow players whose contracts have expired to join any new club during any time of the season.
The Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, reviewed a group of stars who are still without a club, and they are:
1 – Diego Costa
The 33-year-old Brazilian striker is looking for a new club following the end of his journey with Atletico Mineiro, as rumors spread of his return to La Liga with Rayo Vallecano in recent weeks.
2 – Juan Mata
The 34-year-old Spanish veteran is still looking for a new club, following the end of his career with Manchester United.
3 – Nolito
The 35-year-old Spanish winger has terminated his contract with Celta and has since been linked with Cadiz, Malaga and Granada.
4 – Serge Aurier
The Ivorian right-back’s journey with the Spanish club Villarreal has ended, and press reports have spread regarding the possibility of him joining the English club Nottingham Forest or joining Atlético Madrid.
5- Rus Barkley
The 28-year-old is looking for a new club following Chelsea terminated his contract on Monday.
6 – Djibril Sidibe
The French right-back has not found a club since the end of his contract with Monaco, as his name has been linked to many clubs.
7 – Loris Karius
The former German goalkeeper for Liverpool failed to join any club following the Reds terminated his contract with the 29-year-old player.
