Learn about the effects of listing the Brotherhood on terrorist lists for the sixth time

The Official Gazette published the ruling issued by Circuit 13 Criminal, in the South Cairo Court, headed by Counselor Mohamed Amer Gado, with the membership of Mahmoud Youssef Mahmoud and Sameh El-Sayed Hussein Abu Kanna, the two presidents of the Cairo Court of Appeal, and in the presence of Mohamed Gamal Abdel Nasser, the Supreme State Security Prosecutor, a ruling to include 20 defendants on the lists Terrorists, and the inclusion of the Brotherhood on the lists of terrorist entities for a period of 5 years, in Case No. 2741 of 2021 Limiting the Supreme State Security.

According to the Terrorist Entities Law No. 8 of 2015, the effects of the ruling of the Court of Cassation were contained in Article 7 of the Terrorist Entities Law, which stipulates that “the publication of the listing decision, and throughout its duration, has the following effects, by force of law, unless the circuit decides otherwise.:

First – with regard to terrorist entities:

1Ban the terrorist entity and stop its activities.

2Close the places designated for him, and ban his meetings.

3 Prohibition of financing or collecting money or things for an entity either directly or indirectly.

4 Freezing of funds or other assets owned by the Entity or its members whether wholly owned by the Entity or in the form of an interest in joint ownership, the proceeds generated therefrom, or controlled directly or indirectly by the Entity, and the funds or other assets of the persons and entities that operate through it.

5 Prohibition of joining, advocating, promoting, or raising the entity’s slogans.

Second, for the terrorists:

1Inclusion on the lists of travel bans and anticipation of arrival, or banning a foreigner from entering the country.

2Withdrawing or canceling a passport or preventing the issuance or renewal of a new passport.

3Loss of the condition of good reputation and conduct necessary to assume public, parliamentary or local jobs and positions.

4Not to be appointed or contracted in public jobs or in public sector companies or the public business sector, as the case may be

5Suspension of work with half pay.

6Freezing funds or other assets owned by the terrorist, whether wholly or in the form of an interest in joint ownership, the proceeds generated therefrom, or controlled directly or indirectly by the terrorist, and the funds or other assets of the persons and entities operating through him.

7Prohibition of practicing all civil or advocacy activities under any name.

8Prohibition of financing or collecting funds or things for a terrorist, whether directly or indirectly, and the prohibition of receiving or transferring funds, as well as other similar financial services.

9Cessation of membership in professional unions, corporate boards, associations, institutions, any entity in which the state or citizens contribute a share, the boards of directors of clubs, sports federations, and any entity designated for public benefit.

In all cases, the rights of non-good faith shall be taken into account when implementing the effects of publishing the listing decisions issued in accordance with the provisions of this Article.
