Lea Giménez explains that the investment grade “is like a seal of quality”

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Chief of Staff of the Presidency of the Republic, Lea Giménez, said this Friday that the investment grade achieved by Paraguay “is like a seal of quality for those who are making decisions regarding investments, doing business, opening a factory, or even moving to Paraguay, because it is a serious country,” she said during a radio magazine.

The senior State official said that the investment grade is the result of hard work, of a country that is committed to institutionality, to economic development, to equity.

To achieve investment grade, he explained that “the country has to demonstrate certain commitments through public policies, not only passing laws, but demonstrating the effectiveness of its laws in many areas, mainly, institutional construction.”

He stressed that this achievement “has a tremendous impact on us, because it is finally an international recognition of a country that has been walking on the right path.”

This means that “the world recognizes Paraguay’s achievements for more than two decades and this recognition positions us as an economy and a country with sufficient institutionality to be trusted,” said Giménez.

He recalled that Paraguay’s economic and political history had some very difficult years from an economic point of view in the 90s. And that, starting in 2002, 2003 or so, the country began to have a population of 50% in poverty, a factor that led to taking care of finances, improving the financial system and implementing some measures.

“It’s been a little over 20 years since we started building a good path, so to speak, on the right path, and finally, today it is recognized internationally through this rating,” said the Head of State regarding the investment grade granted by the Moody’s risk rating agency.
