According to the latest report from the World Wind Energy Council, which presents the best opportunities offered by floating offshore wind in the world, this energy source might have a place in the world’s objectives in the next decade in order to minimize dependence on fossil fuels like gas, coal and oil.
An initial short-list of 30 countries was mentioned, which have strong potential and which have met several criteria for assessing potential and preparing the market.
Five countries (Morocco, Ireland, Italy, Philippines and the west coast of the United States) identified with a definition of their characteristics, showed significant floating wind potential with the best wind resources found in the South.
Recall that the largest ideal area for the establishment of offshore wind farms at high wind speeds is off the southern Atlantic coast, where water depths drop sharply near the shore and are generally between 60 and 500 meters.
