From June 10 to 12, the famous Lyon BD festival returns to Lyon Metropolis.
From Friday 10 to Sunday 12 June, the Lyon peninsula is hosting the 17th edition of the Lyon BD Festival and its myriad of events. Several authors, authors, illustrators and illustrators are present. And throughout the month of June, an “off” program awaits you throughout the metropolis of Lyon with exhibitions, screenings, workshops…

Exhibitions, meetings, workshops, events… The 17th edition of the Lyon BD Festival should delight fans of the genre! The event takes over various places on the Lyon peninsula, from June 10 to 12: the town hall, the Comédie Odéon theatre, the Célestins theater and the Fine Arts museum.
Here are some of the big names in comics who will be present:
- Nuria Tamarit, author from Valence who designed the poster for this edition.
- Ralf König, best German author of “Conrad et Paul”.
- Théo Grosjean, 27-year-old author from Lyon, who notably tells the stories of “The most freaked out man in the world” on his Instagram account.
- Aurélie Neyret, illustrator from Lyon, who has notably worked for children’s books.
Lyon BD Festival Off: manga in the spotlight
Beyond the official programming, you can participate in various events organized throughout the city as part of the Off festival, from July 1 to 30n.
In several libraries, manga, this style of Japanese comics particularly popular with teenagers, will be honoured:
- The exhibition “By the power of manga” is to be discovered until June 11 at the Ecully media library. You will understand how this genre has become a real cultural phenomenon. And find some good reading tips.
- Comics and manga designer Zerriouh will lead six manga-themed workshops on June 1 in Poleymieux-au-Mont-d’Or, June 4 in Couzon-au-Mont-d’Or, June 8 in Ecully, June 15 and June 18 in Bron and June 22 in Mions. The manga author Miya will offer an introduction to manga drawing on June 8 in Saint-Cyr-au-Mont-d’Or, June 18 in Neuville-sur-Saône, June 16 at the Part-Dieu library , where the film Akira will be screened.
You can also participate in various events:
- The exhibition “La Mâchecroute, the dragon of the Rhône”, from June 1 to July 4, place Antonin-Poncet in Lyon 2.
- The exhibition “When Western comics evoke Palestine”, at Villeurbanne town hall.
- The special comic book quiz evening on June 1, at 8 p.m., at the games bar Les Arpenteurs, in Lyon 1.
