After a 4-year absence, the hit video game “Fortnite” is making its big comeback on smartphones. Its publisher Epic Games announced this Friday the launch of its own mobile app store. Called the Epic Games Store, it is available on Apple devices in Europe and on Android smartphones around the world.
The American group announced in March that it wanted to launch this competitor to Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. Epic Games has been opposing the two tech giants and their dominant positions in app stores for several years. The group particularly denounces the commissions taken by the two giants on purchases made by users, which can be as high as 30%.
