“Le Café des Femmes” a Banlieues Santé project, supported by the Mutualité Française

The opportunity for Eric Chenut, president of the Mutualité Française, to come and meet a dozen women, beneficiaries of the ” The Women’s Cafe campaign, supported by the Banlieues Santé association, with the support of Mutualité Française. The Union Régionale d’Ile de France was also present, represented by Mrs Stéphanie Dupart, head of the prevention department, and Pascale Berlandier, President of the Yvelines territorial delegation.

It was within the associative structure of Plaisir, in the Yvelines, that this meeting took place. In the presence of Camille Perlès, head of women’s projects at Banlieues Santé and Abdelaali El Badaoui, founder of the association, they discussed the issues and objectives of this training.

In a context where we know thatone in two women is unemployed in working-class neighborhoods« The Women’s Cafe » positions itself as a place of welcome for these women in situations of social vulnerability. Through collective workshops, meetings, partnerships and training, “ The Women’s Cafe capitalizes on its success on an inclusive and personalized course, as close as possible to the needs and skills of each one.

The Banlieues Santé association supports these women on many topics: food, physical and sporting activity, parenthood, digitalisation, etc.
Each of the modules is approached in an educational approach around health.

The Mutualité Française, partner of the association, participated in the creation and development of a module on diet and good behavior to adopt to promote good health. With the help of a dietitian from the Mutualité Française, a kit comprising around twenty videos, quizzes and cooking recipes was designed. It is now available in the program ” Resource Women ” from the Association.

For Banlieues Santé, it is essential that the messages can be concrete and easily transmitted by these women who have an important place and influence within their neighborhoods. Eric Chenut points out that these women are real ” messengers of health ».

Banlieues Santé also wishes to help these women in their professional integration: improving their access to employment also means sustainably improving their health and that of their loved ones. Indeed, the training and autonomy of women appear today as the first ramparts once morest social inequalities in terms of health. A source of pride for the association, which thus offers these women access to qualifying training, leading, for some, to a job offer.

The Banlieues Santé association

Created in 2018 by Abdelaali El Badaoui, nurse, Banlieues Santé is a non-profit association whose objective is to fight once morest social inequalities in health and thus reduce the gap in life expectancy between rich and poor in France.
The program ” The Women’s Cafe » exists today in three cities (Marseille, Clichy, Plaisir).
The association hopes to be able to extend this program to other priority neighborhoods very soon.
