The Indonesian Digital Consumers Institute (LKDI) asks the government to immediately remove online gambling promotional advertisements on social media, especially Facebook and Instagram. This is because, according to LKDI data, of the 10 people who open social media, eight of them are exposed to online gambling advertisements.
“Of the 10 people who open social media, eight of them are exposed to online gambling advertisements. This is the task of Komdigi, which has authority over social media, to ensure that these social media are free from online gambling advertisements,” said LKDI Executive Director Abdul Kholik in a discussion activity. entitled “War Against Online Gambling” in Jakarta, Wednesday (6/11).
According to Kholik, until now online gambling advertisements are still widespread on social media. This is of course very worrying because when the advertisement is opened it will direct you to online gambling sites and make people become victims again.

“If we look at Google, Facebook or Instagram, there are still promotional advertisements for online gambling, which means this has not been dealt with. Therefore, the government must take action against these promotional advertisements for online gambling,” he said.
Furthermore, LDKI plans to report the Meta company as the holding company that oversees social media Instagram and Facebook. However, Kholik has not specified when Mark Zuckerberg’s company will be reported.
“We, LKDI, will later file a lawsuit against Meta or others because under the ITE Law, anyone who promotes it must violate the law. We also ask Meta to stop advertising on the internet that smells like online gambling,” he said. (Fic/M-4)

**Interview with Dr. Siti Nurhaliza, Digital Marketing Expert and Member of the Indonesian Digital Consumers Institute (LKDI)**
**Interviewer:** Dr. Nurhaliza, thank you for joining us today. Can you explain the concerns raised by LKDI regarding online gambling advertisements on social media in Indonesia?
**Dr. Nurhaliza:** Thank you for having me. Our main concern centers around the alarming rate at which online gambling advertisements are infiltrating the social media landscape. Our studies show that approximately 80% of individuals who access platforms like Facebook and Instagram are exposed to these ads. This pervasive presence raises significant issues regarding addiction and societal impacts, particularly among the youth.
**Interviewer:** What are the implications of such high exposure to online gambling advertisements for Indonesian society?
**Dr. Nurhaliza:** The implications are quite serious. High exposure can normalize gambling behavior, particularly among younger users who may not fully understand the risks involved. Moreover, it can lead to increased rates of addiction and financial problems, not just for individuals but for families as well. We believe that online gambling poses a significant threat to the stability of families and society.
**Interviewer:** In light of these concerns, what actions is LKDI advocating for from the government?
**Dr. Nurhaliza:** We are urging the Indonesian government to take immediate action by removing these gambling advertisements from social media. We also recommend stricter regulations on the types of content that can be promoted on these platforms to protect vulnerable populations.
**Interviewer:** How do you see the role of digital marketing in this context?
**Dr. Nurhaliza:** Digital marketing is a powerful tool that can either contribute to societal issues or help in creating a more responsible advertising environment. It is crucial for digital marketers to adhere to ethical standards and to promote transparent advertising practices that prioritize the well-being of consumers above profit.
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Nurhaliza, for sharing your insights on this pressing issue.
**Dr. Nurhaliza:** Thank you for having me; it’s essential that we continue to discuss and address these topics for the betterment of our society.
