Today, Sunday, the Cairo Criminal Court, held in the Fifth Settlement, headed by Counselor Atef Rizk, began examining the first session of the trial of Ahmed Gamal Farghali (Director of the Grievances Department at Port Said University – who is in pretrial detention) in the case known in the media as “the owner of the Suez Road incident”.
The defense of the accused said that the car was not under the control of the accused, because the glass was broken and assaulted, explaining that the accused was assaulted and dragged, and the search was completely invalid.
The defendant’s defense added that the car door was broken, so the defendant appeared by supporting him with his foot to not fall, explaining that the car was on an “Uber” trip to deliver one of the women.
The suspect in the Suez Road incident
He added that the accused was using a sedative drug that gave the same effect in the blood of narcotics, and that the accused was from a respectable family and a respectable job, and had never been reckless in any circumstance throughout his life.
Counselor Hamada Al-Sawy, the Public Prosecutor, had previously referred the accused to the criminal trial before the Criminal Court at the conclusion of the investigations conducted with him with the knowledge of the Public Prosecution, which was charged with committing 3 crimes represented in possession with the intent to abuse the substance (tramadol) in cases other than those authorized by law, and that He was arrested with intent to use two narcotic substances (amphetamine and methamphetamine) in cases other than those authorized by law, and driving a vehicle (an angel’s car) recklessly and without caution if he was under the influence of narcotics, the subject of the second accusation, on the Cairo-Suez road.
The list of evidence in the case included the testimony of 4 witnesses, as well as what was proven in the report of the central laboratories of the Forensic Medicine Authority that the samples taken from the accused indicated that he had used the substance of the drugs, amphetamine and methamphetamine, which are listed in the first schedule of the Drug Control Law.
It was also proven in the chemical lab report that the seizures included tramadol, the aforementioned narcotics and a drug of abuse, in addition to the video clip circulating on social media, where the accused was driving a car in a condition indicating that he was under the influence of a drug that would endanger the lives of passersby.
