Lawyer Detained for Pleading Drunk in Alexandria Criminal Court: Latest Updates

Today, Saturday, the renewal judge at the Mohamed Karim Courts Complex in Alexandria decided to renew the detention of a lawyer for 15 days pending investigations, accusing him of pleading before the Alexandria Criminal Court while he was drunk following consuming alcohol, in one of the courtrooms of the first instance.

The so-called “A.A” was a lawyer who attended the defense of the accused “SS” in the drug trafficking case, which was registered with the second Al-Amriya felonies, and it was found that the lawyer was in a state of consuming alcoholic substances.

It was found that the aforementioned was “stammering in his speech” before the 34th Circuit of Felonies, headed by Counselor Mahmoud Issa, the president of the court, not respecting the law of pleadings before the court and his presence before it in a state of intoxication.

The court guards took custody of the lawyer, and Minutes No. 10963 of 2023, misdemeanour, of the Manshia Police Station was issued.

The Public Prosecution decided to detain the accused lawyer for 4 days pending investigation, to renew his detention within the legal time, and to urgently inquire regarding surveillance cameras at the scene of the incident, and to release a “fish and likeness” for him, and by presenting him to the renewal judge, he decided to renew his detention for 15 days pending investigations.
