Lawsuit against 12 people for selling “monkey” products from online stores – 2024-05-12 11:43:47

For 75 frauds, a case file was filed against 12 people in Halkidiki, because they sold from online stores, branded “monkey” products at tempting prices.

The orders in online stores were for branded products that were sold at very low prices, but when the buyers opened the packages, they found that they were counterfeit products, worn out or items of low value. The Poligyros Security Department of Halkidiki filed a case against 12 people for 75 frauds involving “monkey” products, which occurred from March 2023 to January 2024 in various regions of Greece.

With information from a police announcement, the perpetrators created online stores selling clothing, footwear and other items, which they advertised through a social media page and other websites they had created for this purpose. In the online stores, they allegedly sold branded products, mainly shoes, clothes, bags and perfumes, at very low prices, with the aim of convincing their potential victims to make online orders.

They then sent the orders, usually with COD couriers, but placed in the package products other than the order, such as counterfeit or worn products or items of low value.

So far it has been established that from March 2023 to January 2024 they have committed a total of 75 frauds, managing to extract an amount of money that exceeds 4,600 euros. Specifically, they committed 46 frauds in Attica, 15 in Thessaloniki, three in Larissa, two each in Aitoloakarnania and Halkidiki, as well as one each in Argolis, Dodecanese, Evia, Imathia, Ioannina, Xanthi and Pella.

The investigation of the police continues both for the identification of their unknown accomplices and for their possible participation in other similar criminal acts.

The file that was created will be submitted to the Halkidiki District Attorney.
