Russia – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned of the consequences of Britain supplying depleted uranium missiles to Kiev, which would lead to a major escalation of the situation.
Minister Lavrov added, “Britain’s supply of depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine would be a step towards further escalation of the conflict,” noting that Russia would respond in the event of this, saying: “We will take this into account in our actions.” We have a commitment to international norms of war, we have our own military doctrine and, as the President and the Secretary of Defense have said, we have to take into account the fact that our British colleagues are escalating the conflict and taking it to a very dangerous new step.”
On the other hand, Lavrov pointed out that depleted uranium shells will reduce Ukraine’s agricultural capabilities, saying: “The use of depleted uranium munitions will greatly reduce Ukraine’s ability to produce quality, uncontaminated food, and it may lose the ability to produce agricultural production entirely.”
The British Deputy Defense Secretary Annabelle Goldie has pledged to transfer depleted uranium ammunition to Kiev in a statement posted on the British Parliament on the Internet on Tuesday.
