The Italian team achieved its first victory in the championship and went strong against the Serbians. The Argentine forward entered in the second half, scored one of the goals and then received a visit from Diego Milito.
Inter hit hard on the second round of the Champions League and beat Estrella Roja 4-0 at the San Siro Stadium. Three of the four goals came in the second half, where the Italian team beat the Serbs. One of those responsible was Lautaro Martínez, who did not need much time to do his thing: he came on halfway through extra time and scored the third of the match in a few minutes.
The first half presented a more closely contested, even match with no major difference for Simone Inzhagui’s team. The expectations of a great superiority were diminished by the only goal of the first 45 minutes: Hakan Calhanoglu was in charge of opening the account and he did so with an excellent free kick at 11 minutes of the first half. Nothing else. A short result for those who were looking for three points for the first time in the tournament.
Already in the second half, Inter woke up and stomped at the San Siro. Without changes in principle, Marko Arnautovic arrived to extend the advantage. The forward deserved his goal after so much insistence and he did it in the 15th minute: three quarters of the way down the field, Mehdi Taremi stole the ball and assisted the Austrian who only had to push it in front of the goalkeeper.
Now, Lautaro made his entrance. As a formality, the Argentine became the club’s third all-time scorer in the Champions League. And he did it seven minutes after entering. Once again Taremi, in charge of stealing balls in a promising area: he assisted the forward who did not hesitate and crossed it in another one-on-one against Omri Glazer.
And one more was missing, for someone who did everything for the team. The Iranian had his chance. After a penalty awarded by the referee ten minutes from time, Taremi took charge of kicking and did so with great skill to seal the great victory on the second day of the European championship.
The meeting served for the Inter captain to reunite with another former Racing player who won absolutely everything with the Italian club: Diego Milito.
Milito will present himself in December as a candidate for president of Racing and is in Europe gaining experience thinking about the possibility that he could be the next president of the Avellaneda club.
“It’s always nice to see you, friend,” Milito wrote on his Instagram account about the meeting with Lautaro.
