Lausanne scored a fourth success in the National League by beating Lugano 4-1 at Malley. Geneva recovered by beating Ajoie 3-1, while Friborg lost 2-1 in Zurich.
The LHC received four out of four. What changes at the start of the season for the LHC compared to last season? Well, the people of Lausanne manage to win matches where they are not necessarily the best.
Against fresh Ticino, the Lions had difficulty getting into the match following their victory in Kloten 24 hours earlier. They also conceded the opening score in the 3rd minute on an action concluded by Matthew Verboon, author of his first goal in the National League.
Despite several very heated actions in front of Schlegel, the Vaudois had to wait until the middle third to respond to Luca Gianinazzi’s men. They first equalized thanks to Jäger. Then the new foreigner Antti Suomela justified his top scorer helmet by sending a shot of diabolical precision in the 29th.
Lausanne gave itself some breathing space in the 46th minute when Théo Rochette took advantage of a pass from Sekac to score his third goal of the season. The Lions also take the lead in the standings with one point ahead of Fribourg.
Geneva pulls itself together
Disappointing in Lausanne and Fribourg, Geneva had to make amends. In front of their audience, the Eagles raised their heads once morest Ajoie. A 3-1 success which does not completely erase the mixed feeling left in recent days, but which allows the reigning champion to honor his title.
Bad the day before in the Dragons’ den, Sami Vatanen made up for it a little by opening the score in power-play (3rd). Captain Noah Rod doubled the lead midway through the match. Romanenghi’s reduction in scoring at the end of the middle third did not have a negative effect on the Garnets. They were able to regain a two-point lead in the 44th minute thanks to Jooris.
Friborg defends well
At the Swiss Life Arena, Friborg delivered an excellent match once morest Zurich. The Dragons ended up losing 2-1, but the game was of high quality. Opposed to an opponent that many consider to be the favorite for the title, Christian Dubé’s players offered a great response to the ‘Z’.
Everything was decided in the first third with Fröden opening the score following just 22 seconds and Friborg’s response thanks to Marchon in the 3rd. During the penalties, Fröden was the only one to find the opening, even if the referees had to watch the video to validate the goal. Friborg can, however, blame themselves following having benefited from a numerical superiority during extra time.
Easy Biel
Biel had no problem erasing its defeat in Porrentruy by hosting Davos. The Zealanders once once more managed to guarantee a second clean sheet for their goalkeeper Harri Säteri for a 3-0 victory. And the Bernese defense needed to present a pretty face following the five goals conceded the day before.
Zug resorted to penalties to beat Bern 3-2 tab. The Zougois scored three penalties, while the Bernese remained silent. In the game, however, Joona Luoto scored her sixth goal of the season.
Penalty shots also in Rapperswil where the St. Gallois beat Kloten 2-1 tab. And finally in the last part of the evening, Ambri inflicted his fourth consecutive defeat on Langnau. The Leventins won 3-2 following a success from Jesse Virtanen.
