The court has delivered its verdict. I’peaceful action carried out by several catering players on November 10, 2020 is not an offence. Exasperated by their situation in the face of COVID, the members of the collective “Who will pay the bill”, had set up empty tables on Place Saint-François in Lausanne. A call for help badly perceived by the municipal police who had denounced 26 establishment owners. A fine of 200 francs had been given to them in the first instance. Contested by regarding twenty of them, the prefecture had reduced the fine to 50 francs, but confirmed the offense, reports lausannecites.ch.

An insufficient turnaround for two of the bosses concerned. According to them, the action of November 10 is more of a “happening” than a demonstration. In addition, the event took place in compliance with health rules. The Federal Epidemics Act was therefore not violated. Arguments heard and validated this Friday by the Police Court which agreed with the two restaurateurs.
